Hank Levine was born in Germany and moved to Brazil in 2000, where he worked alongside Fernando Meirelles and his production company, O2 Filmes, in the creation of an international department. The film “City of God” (2002), co-produced by Hank, world premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, became a worldwide blockbuster and an instant hit, also among critics, eventually obtaining four Oscar nominations. The documentary “Waste Land” (2010), also produced by Hank, won several awards, including in Sundance and Berlin, and received an Oscar nomination for Best feature length Documentary. Among others, Hank produced and co-directed the documentary “Ginga, The soul of Brazilian football” (2006), as well as music videos, such as “Space Funk”, which received a nomination for Best Music Video from MTV Brazil. He produced the feature films “Praia do Futuro” (2014), premiered in competition at the Berlinale, and “Rosa Morena” (2010), winning Best Feature Film award at the International Mostra of São Paulo and a Robert nomination for best Danish feature film. “Exodus – Where I Come From is Disappearing” is Hank’s most ambitious project, and marks his directorial debut.
